History Department Response to Student Feedback
HSTY6987 - Writing the Past (2009)

Unit Coordinator: Professor Richard Waterhouse

Overall 90% of students indicated that they strongly agreed or agreed that they were satisfied with this unit of study. One student was consistently negative in answering every single question on the evaluation form.

Students were concerned about the quality of the seminar room- whick lacked audio-visual equipments and possessed appalling acoustics. I will seek an alternate room in 2010. Students also expressed concern about the absence of an early piece of assessment. I will remedy this in 2010 by requiring two essays-one of which will be due at the end of three weeks. Students also expressed concern that a reading brick was not available-although the reading for the next week was always provided at the end of each seminar. Given that a maximum of 15 students are likely to enrol in this class, which makes the supply of a brick uneconomic, I am not sure how to respond to this criticism.
