"Education Matters", a lecture by His Holiness Dalai Lama

What is the purpose and value of education? And why does it matter to so many young people worldwide?
The Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (IDHR) is proud to be hosting a unique student-focused event, ‘Education Matters’, with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on his ‘Beyond Religion: the benefits of living ethically’ tour from June 13-23, 2013.
Students from the University of Sydney are invited to hear the Dalai Lama speak and explore questions key to our understanding of the importance of education such as: What is the purpose of education? Is it a privilege or a responsibility? Does it provide us with a sense of purpose, or feed our happiness and contentment with the world?
All students currently enrolled at the University of Sydney can register for this event following the procedures listed on the Seymour Centre website. All students registering must have a University of Sydney student ID card, which will be requested upon entry to the event.
Please note, tickets are non-transferable.
*Seating will be assigned and tickets must be collected from the Seymour Centre box office before the event, on presentation of a University of Sydney student card.
