Professor David Eckel - 2013 UBEF Visiting Professor

The Buddhist Studies Program welcomes Professor David Eckel as the 2013 University Buddhist Education Foundation Visiting Professor.

david eckel Professor Eckel is Professor of Religion and an award-winning teacher in the Religion Department at Boston University. He is the author of several books on Buddhism and the Madhyamaka tradition, including Understanding Buddhism (Oxford University Press), To See the Buddha: A Philosopher’s Quest for the Meaning of Emptiness (Princeton University Press) and Bhaviveka and His Buddhist Opponents (Harvard Department of Sanskrit and Indian Studies).

Professor Eckel will be giving numerous talks during his tenure at the University of Sydney, including a Sydney Ideas talk on 19 September, a series of Friday lectures commencing 6 September, and a talk for the AABS - Australian Association of Buddhist Studies - on 24 September.
