ITLN1611 - Introductory Italian 1

This unit of study is for absolute beginners with no previous knowledge of the language. It introduces students to the main structures of the Italian language and the basic vocabulary to communicate successfully in everyday situations. All four language skills are developed, with a particular focus on grammatical accuracy.
class participation (10%), written assignments (equivalent to 1000wd) (10%), 1x1000wd class test (20%), aural/oral tests (equivalent to 500wd) (25%), 1x2hr final exam (35%)

A student who is qualified to enter a higher level course may not enrol in a lower level course. Students who have taken Beginners HSC Italian proceed to ITLN2611; students who have taken Continuers and / or Extension HSC Italian proceed to ITLN2631. Students who have any formal training or previous knowledge of Italian from other sources are required to identify themselves to the department as soon as possible.
