Health communication is a dynamic, emerging field for MECO research, at the intersection of public health and communication studies. Our scholars are leading innovative studies of breastfeeding, health promotion and social marketing, food security and nutrition, and barriers to health communication. They have been sponsored by the Marie Bashir Institute for Infectious Diseases and Biosecurity to investigate Australian media campaigns for the prevention of infectious diseases. Staff are also part of the health services advocacy node based in the Marie Bashir Institute, as well as the Health Humanities and Healthy Food Systems nodes within the Charles Perkins Centre.
