CPACS Membership

CPACS is a largely volunteer organisation that relies on the support of its members. Currently there are more than 60 members, but we need more.

Members have access to the Resource Centre and the Posters for Peace Gallery. Membership includes a free subscription to “PeaceWrites” and advance notification of seminars and conferences. CPACS Members also enjoy discounts to some CPACS events. For example, members attended our recent conference “Never Again” at the concession rate of $55 - a great reduction on the $95 tickets. Members also receive invitations to Sydney Peace Foundation events and are able to attend the CPACS Annual General Meeting in February, and be nominated for the CPACS Council.

The New Deal for members concerns the scheme to have CPACS’ agenda set (partly) by you, its members. Each year one member will win the members’ ballot to mandate us to run an event and produce a publication on this member’s choice of theme. Preparations are underway for this year’s ballot, for a combination of event and publication in 2009.

Categories of membership include:

  • Full - $44 per year
  • Concession - $16.50 per year
  • Joint/family - $70 per year
  • Life membership - $400

Life Membership

Life Membership is a wonderful way to express your commitment to CPACS. Life Members are awarded a Life Membership certificate at the next council meeting following their membership acceptance. Life members enjoy the same benefits as annual members without having to ever renew their membership again.

Many CPACS members also volunteer their time at CPACS. Current volunteer activities include managing the library, editing publications, organising seminars and assisting with mailings. Please let us know if you would like to contribute in these or other areas.

CPACS Online Communities

We are pleased to announce that CPACS now has an online community, to which you are warmly invited. The group is at

The CPACS group is an opportunity to keep abreast of upcoming events that the Centre is hosting as well as participate in thoughtful discussion of issues related to peace research and practice.

The online community also affords CPACS alumni, students and many other members of the Sydney and global communities interested in peace research the opportunity to keep in touch.

Members are welcome to engage in discussion, share their thoughts, post links, and circulate relevant event notices of interest to the community.

The platform has the benefit of allowing members to customise their settings so that they can regulate the amount of email they receive. The special notices, no email (online only) or email digest option may be chosen according to preference.

It is anticipated that this list will be a valuable forum for all those interested in CPACS to keep in touch with events wherever they are in the world.
