Research students in the Department of Philosophy are required to undertake coursework units of study in addition to their research thesis. Coursework units of study are held in the traditional time commitments of undergraduate study (that is, thirteen weeks of two-hourly course meetings). Research students can do units from the Honours Seminars, or from options offered by research staff. Please refer to the Postgraduate Research Coordinator for more information.

Admission to research degrees is contingent upon there being both a staff member who is willing and able to be a primary supervisor for the project, and a staff member who is willing and able to be an associate supervisor for the project. Applications for admission into the program will only be processed if they provide documentation to show that there is agreement from both a primary and associate supervisor to supervise the thesis project. All candidates are subject to an annual review of their progress and continuation of enrolment is subject to satisfactory performance.
