Keynote Speakers

This year, the APPC is pleased to have two amazing keynote speakers at our conference.

Professor Raimond Gaita
Professor Raimond Gaita

Professor Gaita is a Professorial Fellow at the Melbourne Law School and Faculty of Arts, University of Melbourne, and Emeritus Professor of Moral Philosophy at King's College London. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities. With a long career and an extensive list of publications, we are pleased that Professor Gaita will be joining us for this year’s APPC.


Dr. Catherine Legg
Catherine Legg

Dr Legg is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Waikato. Working in many areas of philosophy, Dr. Legg specializes in the philosophy of knowledge, philosophy of science, and pragmatism among others. In 2012, Dr. Legg was awarded a grant from the New Zealand Marsden Fund with Professor Ian Witten, Department of Computer Science, University of Waikato. The project will run for three years, and is a massive undertaking. Highly successful with many publications, we are pleased to have Dr. Legg joining us for the conference.


Workshops

Stephen Heterington

There are two workshops that will be open to all attendees.

Professor Stephen Hetherington, the editor of the Australasian Journal of Philosophy, will run a workshop on publishing.

The other workshop will address more general career advice; please check back for more details later.


Lodging and Travel Assistance

If you are attending the conference from outside the Sydney area, please refer to this PDF for a list of nearby hotels and hostels. Most have fairly reasonable rates, and should be within easy walking or bussing distance to the University.

If you require monetary assistance to attend the conference, please bear in mind that all universities are different and have different policies regarding travel. It is best to contact your department’s postgraduate coordinator for information on how to apply for money for travel.
