Undergraduate Studies within Political Economy
In Political Economy you’ll study the relationships between the main players in the economy, like transnational corporations, small businesses, national governments, consumers and trade unions To get a good understanding of the way the economy works, you’ll study the different currents of economic thought – from the birth of capitalism to the modern globalisation era.
Political Economy examines the sources of economic power and how that power is used to change the lives of millions of people. How is the economy related to powerful social forces like materialism? How are political systems shaped by economic forces? What role can economic policy play on ensuring prosperity, equality and sustainability? These are the big themes in the study of Political Economy.
