Units of Study Outlines
ECOP3622 - Work in the Global Economy
Semester 2, 2013 | Credit Points: 6
Coordinator: Stuart Rosewarne
Description
This unit of study offers students a critical examination of labour market transformations, including the interplay between formal and informal sectors of the economy and the related changes in the organisation and definition of waged and non-waged forms of work. The analysis explores the traction of economic imperatives in contemporary capitalist economies vis-a-vis social and political forces, including the role of the state and other institutional forces, in framing these processes, and how these are shaped by globalisation.
