Visions for Contemporary Art: Elizabeth Ann Macgregor and Terry Smith in conversation
22 May, 2012
From its roots in the Power Bequest, the Museum of Contemporary Art has flourished and become a vital centre of contemporary art for Sydney and an institution of international standing. Its recent reopening incorporating the National Centre for Creative Learning launched a new and exciting phase of its existence.
This new vision for the MCA is the brainchild of its distinguished director, Elizabeth Ann Macgregor, and we are delighted to present a conversation with Liz Ann on her career, her plans for the MCA in the 21st Century and more generally the place of contemporary art in Australian culture.
Liz Ann’s interlocutor in the conversation will be the distinguished theorist and historian of Contemporary art, Terry Smith, former Power Professor of Art History at the University of Sydney, and now Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Contemporary Art History and Theory at the University of Pittsburgh.
The event is presented in partnership with Sydney Ideas
