Submission, Copyright and Contact Information
Call for Papers
Foregone Conclusions is now calling for papers for its very first issue, to be released in 2006. Papers are invited from postgraduates and early career researchers, of five to eight thousand words, on any historical subject or theme. Please see below for submission and style guidelines.
Submissions Accepted
-
from Fourth Year (Honours) intending postgraduates, Masters postgraduates, and Ph.D. postgraduates
-
original research, which has not been previously published
-
articles with historical bent, from disciplines including Ancient History, Anthropology, Classics, Gender Studies, History, Sociology, Philosophy
-
papers between five and eight thousand words, not including footnotes
-
for the August issue, by 1st February preceding
-
for the February issue, by 1st July preceding
- although each issue has a deadline for submission, submissions may be made at any time for consideration for future issues
Means of Submission and Style Guidelines
-
submit by email, as a Word attachment, to foregone.conclusions@arts.usyd.edu.au
-
provide an abstract of up to three hundred words, plus a bibliography of references cited
-
use Times New Roman font in 12 or 14 point, with double-spaced lines
-
include translations for foreign words and quotes
-
observe the conventions of the Chicago Manual of Style (see Kate L. Turabian, A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 6th ed., revised by John Grossman and Alice Bennett, University of Chicago Press, Chicago, 1996

please use short titles for second and subsequent references, not op. cit. or ibid

use Oxford English Dictionary spelling
Copyright Information for Contributors and Prospective Contributors
Copyright for the work of an article contributed to Foregone Conclusions rests with the contributing author, with the provisos:
-
that the work is original, ethically produced, and not previously published
-
that Foregone Conclusions may publish the article, and store it in the journal’s archives, both electronically and in hard copy, although without making any alterations or cuts that have not been agreed to by the contributing author in writing
-
that readers of Foregone Conclusions may make use of the work for research or study purposes, either electronically or by printing it out, according to accepted ethical practices of research and acknowledgement
