Welcome to the Department of Studies in Religion
The Department of Studies in Religion within the School of Letters, Art and Media is administered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and located in the John Woolley Building.
The Department aims to provide an open, serious, scholarly and critical study of religion. It offers the widest possible range of units and its methods of study on religion include history, philosophy, psychology, phenomenology, sociology, and biblical scholarship.
Currently there are approximately 25 research postgraduate students presently enrolled in the Department engaged in research on a wide range of topics. The first year of the undergraduate degree (BA) usually attracts around 130 students with a general undergraduate student body of approximately 300.
