Activities relevant to the proposed research group
Zuocheng Zhang has published Business English: Theories and Practices (Press of University of International Business and Economics China 2008), a book which deals with a variety of key issues in Business English, including professional discourse and identities. He is currently undertaking his Ph.D research on the construction of professional identities by Business English majors in a Chinese academic setting. He is also looking at distinguished academics making speeches at gatherings such as conferences, workshops, and seminars, with the focus on their construction of professional identities. He teaches a course in the MEd in TESOL titled English for Specific Purposes, a course in which issues of identities are featured.
