Reverberations: The Holocaust, Human Rights and the Museum

The Project

Reverberations explores the intersection between the Holocaust and human rights in the museum setting.

Human rights museums with a Holocaust core or theme are proliferating in many countries, yet this area of museology has not been subject to scholarly study. Reverberations challenges and extends debates about the influence of Holocaust memory on human rights discourses. In partnership with the Sydney Jewish Museum and in dialogue with a range of international institutions and researchers we aim to develop an Australian contribution to this increasingly significant global conversation.

The project will result in scholarly publications and form the foundation of a permanent Holocaust and Human Rights exhibition at the Sydney Jewish Museum.
