Addition of a new country to be explored by Media and Communications students through the 2013 International Fellowship Program.
The Department of Media and Communications (MECO) is happy to announce the addition of a new country to be explored by our students through the 2013 International Fellowship Program.
The Department has been awarded an amount of $17500 from Australia-India Council (AIC) to support a scoping trip for Adjunct Professor Richard Broinoswki in late October 2012 on behalf of the University of Sydney to investigate, establish and develop opportunities for Internship placements in English language media in New Delhi and to grant a $5500 Scholarship (each) to two of our final year students to engage in professional work as journalists for four to five weeks at selected Indian media outlets in January –February 2013.
With the support of the Australian Thailand Institute (ATI), Australian Malaysian Institute (AMI), Australian Korea Foundation (AKF), Australian Japan Foundation (AJF), MYER and Copyright Agency Limited (CAL), our MECO students were fortunate indeed with the department securing unprecedented funding of $62 500 to support international internships for our 2012 program, we were able to place twelve students to undertake internships in Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Korea and Japan.
By including India in our 2013 International Fellowship Program, our students will be able to acquire professional experience and a network of Indian friends and colleagues, thus gaining a unique knowledge of India and its media that will be invaluable in securing careers in Australian media.
