Biographical details
Juana-Blanca Salio de la Puente completed her first degree at the University of Oviedo, followed by her MA with a dissertation entitled 'Analysis of a Jewish Shanty Town in Léon'. She then completed various diplomas in Business Studies at Valencia, Alicante and Madrid, as well as a Diploma in English in Studies at Alicante. She is part-way through a PhD on economical structures in Spain.
Ms Salio has worked for the Spanish Parliament and the trade union movement, as well as lecturing at the University of Oviedo and running specialist training courses. From 1991 to 1998 she taught Spanish language, economics and politics at the South Bank University, London; and since 1999 she has been teaching Spanish for the University of Sydney and the University of UNSW.
