Biographical details

Christel Rome was educated in South of France, in Montpellier and Aix en Provence. Her focus has been on didactic and practices in teaching and learning French as a second language as well as on medieval studies. She spent 2 years in Bulgaria teaching French and researching on Suggestopedia, a pedagogic Bulgarian approach, created to accelerate language acquisition. She taught in bilingual language schools in Jambol and Blagoevgrad and helped organising poetry recitals and plays in French for the end of the year festivals before moving to Australia. She started teaching at the University of Sydney French Studies department in 2004. Since then, she has been coordinating for a number of years second year advanced courses and other language courses. Since 2009, she has co-organised the successful French annual poetry contest and workshops, and is currently an International Exchange coordinator for the Department.

  • French poetry writing and recital for an enhanced language acquisition
  • Holy Grail in Chrétien de Troyes and the Indus civilization
