Current projects
Dr Walsh is currently working on a book manuscript, Living the Myth of Matriarchy: Gender, Tourism and the Mosuo, in which she explores who the Mosuo are, how the media has perpetuated myths surrounding them, and what the multiple effects of this have been - on government policy, on civil society, on the on the management of a local economy drastically changing because of tourism, as well as on Mosuo identity and the growing demand for ‘cultural preservation’.
