Dr Sharon Quah and Dr Shawna Tang, recent PhD graduates in the Department of Sociology and Social Policy, have both been awarded prestigious Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in the Asia Research Institute (ARI) at the National University of Singapore.
Dr Susan Banki, a member of the Department’s Human Rights Team, has been awarded the Vice Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence.
UN Consultancy Paper on Migrant Domestic Workers released[29 April 2013]
Associate Professor Nicola Piper and one of the Department’s PhD scholars, Sohoon Lee, were recently granted a consultancy by the UN to develop a backgrounder and issues paper for the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) deliberations concerning women migrant workers, especially women migrant domestic workers.
Congratulations to Curtis Dickson who has won the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives Thesis Prize for the best honours dissertation in Australia for 2012.
Olga Oleinikova, a PhD student in the Department of Sociology and Social Policy, was awarded the Jerzy Zubrzycki Postgraduate Conference Scholarship in December 2012.
