Major in Social Policy

Your pathway commences with the completion of two junior units of study:

For a major in Social Policy, students must complete a total of 48 credit points comprised of all of the following:

. 30 credit points of compulsory senior units in Sociology:
- SCPL2601 Australian Social Policy
- SCPL2602 The Principles of Social Policy
- SCLG2611 Welfare States: A Comparative Analysis
- SCLG2601 Sociological Theory
- Either SCLG2602 Social Inquiry: Qualitative Methods or SCLG3603 Quantitative Methods for Social Science (Note: in 2014, this unit has been replaced by SCLG2632 Quantitative Methods.)

. At least 1 senior elective (6 credit points) selected from the unit of study Table A, including cross-listed units in other departments.

I started my degree in or after 2014

A major in Social Policy requires at least 36 credit senior points.

. This includes at least 18 credit points of core 2000-level units of study:
- SCPL2601 Australian Social Policy,
- SCPL2602 The Principles of Social Policy; and
- SCLG2632 Quantitative Methods

. as well as 6 credit points from core 3000-level units of study: SCPL3604 Social Policy and Practice.
