Description

This unit (taught in Spanish) explores the images associated with figures such as Eva PerĂ³n and Ernesto Che Guevara, the musical genre of tango and the seemingly boundless landscape of Patagonia. We will focus on the way in which different cultural elements frequently perceived as part of Argentina's cultural history have been created, appropriated and commodified within and beyond the country's national boundaries, giving special attention to globalisation as a framework for approaching the relationship between identity representation and commodification.
