Dr Alastair Blanshard
Dr Alastair Blanshard is senior lecturer in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Sydney. Born in Brisbane, he studied at the University of Queensland before completing his doctorate in Greek History at Cambridge, going on to teach at Oxford and Reading Universities. He has written three books and numerous articles on topics including the Roman orgy, Greek statuary and the popularity of abdominal muscles, and representations of Greece and Rome in cinema. He regularly hosts a segment on 2GB comparing ancient and modern life.
