Michael Brennan lives in Tokyo where he teaches in the Faculty of Policy Studies at Chuo University and runs the independent literary publisher Vagabond Press, vagabondpress.net. He has published three collections of poetry The Imageless World, Unanimous Night and Autoethnographic and received the Mary Gilmore Award, the William Baylebridge Award and the Grace Leven Prize. He graduated from the University of Sydney and completed a PhD (on the poetry of Robert Adamson) in 2001.
