What is the Teaching Development Program (TDP)?

The TDP is a professional development opportunity that’s available to all teachers in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Faculty of Education and Social Work. It’s a 6-week long course where you’ll be required to attend a 2 hour session in each of those weeks, more information can be found under session details.

Places are limited and we expect the program to fill quickly so please RSVP at your earliest convenience if you are teaching.

Please note that teachers who are new to tertiary education must complete the three-hour Sessional Teacher Orientation provided by the Faculty before enrolling in TDP.

Why should you participate in the TDP?

  • The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Education and Social Work values the professional development of all academic staff. Your participation will be recognised and rewarded with a certificate that you can add to your CV.
  • It provides a forum in which you can deepen your understanding of what is involved in high quality teaching and student learning; it encourages discussion and reflection regarding how this understanding can be applied in your own teaching context.
  • You will be able to listen to the experiences of other academic staff and to voice any concerns or questions about teaching that you may have. One of our key aims is to better connect and integrate teachers within the academic and social cultures of our two Faculties.
  • Finally, and most importantly, the program will better equip teachers to meet the needs of students, and will improve our students' learning experiences and outcomes.

We look forward to seeing you at our first session!
