About the blogs service
What is this?
This is the University of Sydney blog service. This website is the central gateway to all blogs that the service hosts.
What's a blog?
A blog (short for weblog) is a website where a writer (or writers) posts commentary, links and the like. It is arranged chronologically and should be updated frequently.
Most blogs also include a comment facility that allows readers to post their comments on individual pieces written for the blog.
Who uses it?
Anyone can read our blogs, but only staff of the University are able to publish or 'post' on a blog.
If you'd like to set up a blog here, head over to the 'Get a Blog' page.
How does it work?
We use Movable Type for running our blogs. They are housed on a central server. Some of the features Movable Type provides are:
- editing of blogs through a browser
- discussion through comments and trackbacks
- post categorisation
- RSS feeds
To find out more see the help section or visit the Movable Type website.
