The Council is the peak non-government body representing the mental health sector and has 58 members nationally, including health professional organisations, consumer and carer groups, community sector providers and health research organisations.
The most significant collaboration has been in the production of the seminal Not for Service report, the principal author of which was Prof Hickie, published in 2005 which demonstrated the crisis facing Australia’s mental health system. The link between the two organisations is further strengthened through the joint appointment of Sebastian Rosenberg as Deputy CEO at the MHCA and Senior Lecturer, Mental Health Policy at the BMRI.
The BMRI and the MHCA continue to work together on a range of projects aimed at reforming our mental health system.
