headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation, helps young people aged 12–25 with mild to moderate mental health issues receive early treatment that responds to their needs.

The independent organisation was founded in 2006 by Professors Ian Hickie and Patrick McGorry with critical support from the University of Sydney.

The Brain and Mind Centre is the lead agency for two headspace youth mental health clinics, located in Camperdown and Campbelltown. Our clinics are integrated with our research programs. headspace Camperdown also offers its services to the University of Sydney’s 50,000 student population.

The integration of research programs and clinics enables the translation of research outcomes into improved healthcare practice and policy. Because of this integration, our research is underpinned by an understanding of the needs of primary and allied carers, and patients and their families.
