Economics and Business Alumni Magazine - March 2008

Welcome to the second edition of our Faculty of Economics and Business Alumni Magazine - E&B Connect.

The March edition features an article by guest writer, Professor Geoff Gallop, on 'Public Sector Management Today'. Professor Gallop is the Director of the Graduate School of Government at the University of Sydney.

Our alumni in profile section includes: alumna, Kaye Dening AM (BEc '67), who talks about her career within the property development industry but highlights that her greatest achievement has been to find a successful balance between her career and her family; our celebration of alumnus Adjunct Professor Wayne Lonergan (BEc '67) who is due to receive an honorary degree of Doctor of Science in Economics from the University of Sydney; and a snapshot of life overseas for alumnus and Rhodes Scholar, Jonathan Bonnitcha (BEc(SocSc) Hons '04, LLB '06) who is currently enrolled in an MPhil in law at Oxford University.

We also acknowledge and congratulate our ten alumni who received awards in the Australia Day Honours for 2008.

Our research pieces introduce a new book by two Faculty scholars - Honorary Professor Frank Clarke and Professor Graeme Dean - entitled Indecent Disclosure: Gilding the Corporate Lily and also a piece on the work of Professor David Hensher from the Faculty's Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies in regards to his new ARC-funded research project on the reasons why people choose greener cars over regular vehicles.
