Undergraduate Studies

Our teaching is focused on three areas: data, decisions and operations. Combined, these areas make up the major we offer in Business Analytics.

Businesses are currently drowning in data and information, as the storage capacity and power of computers and the internet continues to increase rapidly. For example, a recent McKinsey Global Institute report states.

"The use of big data will become a key basis of competition and growth for individual firms. There will be a shortage of talent necessary for organizations to take advantage of big data. By 2018, the United States alone could face a shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 people with deep analytical skills as well as 1.5 million managers and analysts with the know-how to use the analysis of big data to make effective decisions"

It is imperative for firms to analyse and employ this data to help them make better decisions;, Business Analytics focuses on learning the analytical tools and methods that are used to turn data into insights and understanding, thus allowing good predictions and decisions to be made at both operational and strategic levels.

In addition to the first year core unit in Quantitative Business Analysis (BUSS1020), we offer a variety of second and third year units, across the areas of Business Analytics, Operations Research, Business Statistics, Big Data Analytics and Operations Management.
