The RJ Chambers Memorial Research Lecture & Dinner

The RJ Chambers Memorial Research Lecture has been hosted by the Accounting Foundation and The University of Sydney Business School since 1985 and is held in memory of Raymond John Chambers (1917-1999). Chambers was educated in Newcastle, NSW, Australia, before being awarded a scholarship to study economics at The University of Sydney, where he graduated in 1939. The first full-time lecturer in accounting at The University of Sydney, he was appointed to the University's foundation Chair of Accounting in 1960, a position he held till his retirement in 1983.
For 2012, the R J Chambers Memorial Research Lecture will be delivered by Sir David Tweedie on the topic of "Standard Setting: Change Management - Revolution or Evolution" Sir David will discuss the growing internationalism of standard setting, the political issues faced by the International Accounting Standards Board over the first ten years and the issues still to be resolved.
