Teaching in the Community
As part of the University of Sydney Business School's mission statement, our academic staff are encouraged to take part in teaching programs designed to benefit the wider community, through the application of their research endeavours to real-world businesses, large and small. Below is a selection of our most recent community teaching programs.
Global Executive MBA & Foodbank
In 2011, the University of Sydney Business School Global Executive MBA cohort joined forces with Foodbank, Australia's largest hunger relief organisation. Together, the participants in the Global Executive MBA program worked with Foodbank to tackle the enormous issue of how to feed millions of Australians that currently go without food on a regular basis.
It was a challenging, hands-on project for the GEMBA team, allowing them to put into practice a lot of their learning, as well as their own ideas on how to deal with the growing issue of hunger. At the end of the project, the group of 16 Global Executive MBA participants presented a comprehensive business plan to Foodbank CEO John Webster, Chairman Enzo Allara and NSW Chairman Ern Pope.

RARE Projects
The Remote and Rural Enterprise Program is a series of projects specifically designed to engage with communities outside of the metropolitan areas of Australia, to help community members develop and maintain sustainable, innovative businesses, while building on our own research and putting into practice our innovative and inclusive business models.
