Below I have listed the websites of three colleges all situated close to the University of Sydney campus. They are all walking distance to the conference venue. Transport to Venue
Buses
All hotels are conveniently located close to Railway Square Bus Terminal where you can catch the following (Parramatta Road) buses to conveniently get to the conference venue:
Bus Numbers: 435, 436, 437, 438 and 440.
You should exit the bus at the University footbridge stop on Parramatta Road. You then climb the adjacent stairwell to enter the University's Camperdown Campus.
Between 7am - 7 pm, buses that operate from Sydney CBD (Central Business District) are pre-paid, which means you must purchase a ticket prior to boarding. You can purchase single (or multiple) ride tickets from a vendor at bus stops or from the nearest news agency or a convenience store.
Taxi
If you are so inclined to catch a taxi from your hotel top the conference venue, it should be about $15 depending on traffic.
A few tips:
- Tips to the driver are not customary in Australia unless you receive exceptional service.
- If you book a taxi, a call-out charge of approximately $2 incurs
- The door is not automated so you need to open the door yourself. Don't forget to close it (gently) when you get out!
Other Useful Information to Visitors
Airport Transfer
On arrival from Sydney Airport, the transfer to your city hotel is most conveniently made by either train or taxi. From the Domestic and International airport terminals trains can be caught on the 'South line' or 'Airport and East Hills line' to Central station for approximately $15. From Central station you can walk to Railway Square where the Mercure Central Hotel and Clarion Collection Marque Hotel Sydney are situated. However, if you have much luggage or staying at the other hotels listed above it is likely to be more convenient to catch a taxi from the airport. A taxi from Sydney airport to your city hotel will cost about $35, depending on the traffic.
Wireless Internet Access
You should have a broadband internet access from your hotel room. If you would like wireless access for your laptop/notebook, you can purchase prepaid wireless internet access from Optus, Telstra and Vodafone. The conference venue is within a 'hot spot' so that you will have access to any of these networks provided you have an account with any one of them.
Mobile phones
Check before departure whether your mobile phone (hardware) can be used in Australia. Prepaid cards are available through Optus, Telstra and Vodafone at retails outlets.
