| Description | This unit is intended to go some way towards bridging the gap between theory and professional life. The unit examines the theoretical basis of labour negotiation. It goes on to examine the process of bargaining drawing upon both literature and experience of industrial relations and human resource management practitioners. The process of advocacy and role of advocacy in Australian industrial relations is also examined. Much of the unit is devoted to role-play negotiation exercises where students apply the techniques that have been taught. Students also undertake a period of work experience. Entry to the unit is by application to the Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies Office and is on a merit basis.
