Competition overview

The University of Sydney Business School Real Estate Case Competition was based upon a real-world Australian real estate case, giving students the opportunity to put their knowledge into first-hand practice.

The teams consisted of 4-6 students and were judged by senior representatives from the Australian Real Estate Industry.

Winning teams and prizes

The competition was extremely close with the judges discussing for nearly an hour before arriving at a decision.

The title of National Champions went to the team from The University of Sydney.

As the competition rules preclude the Sydney team from winning the grand prize, the runner-up team from The University of Queensland was awarded the grand prize.

Both Teams are now guaranteed entry to the highly respected, invitation-only, Cornell International Real Estate Case Competition, to be held in New York City in November 2016. The UQ-team received an all-expenses paid trip (up to $25,000) to Manhattan to compete in the competition.

The Cornell competition, hosted by the Center for Real Estate and Finance, attracts competitors from the world’s best universities, including Cornell, NYU Stern, Wharton and Cambridge. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide participants with real-life experience, as well as a head start in a career in real estate.
