I chose the Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies)because I wanted to see who I'd become after the experience of a broad education in completely new fields of study. University is as much about self-discovery as it is about mastering your chosen fields of study. It's about far more than getting a job; it's also about developing you as a person.
I chose Sydney University because it is a well-established university and has an excellent reputation. It was the only university I considered that didn't offer me a scholarship and I realised then that it would give me the challenge of a highly competitive environment. I picked the right university and degree for me, definitely.
The Faculty of Economics and Business is a very empowering environment. The lecturers are fantastic. They are approachable, regularly ask for feedback on how the courses are going and value input from students. Also, lecturers at Sydney Uni don't treat you as just a student, but see you as someone capable of doing great things now and in the future. I graduated knowing I can make a difference and create a positive future for myself and the world.
At university I volunteered for the student group AIESEC. AIESEC gave me a safe place to practice leadership, responsibility and develop invaluable skills. I was amazed by the positive impact a relatively small team of committed people can make.
