Student Testimonials

Elyse Newell - Bachelor of Commerce

"I chose a commerce degree because I believe it will give me a broad range of employment opportunities. It develops your business sense and provides students with a variety of important skills in different areas. I have always been interested in pursuing a business oriented degree and I know I have made the right choice. Through the Bachelor of Commerce I not only study core subjects such as economics, accounting and statistics, but I also delve into elective subjects such as commercial law and marketing. With commerce, you choose your direction by selecting your majors so if you're not interested in subjects like accounting and economics then, after your first year, you don't have to choose them! Each subject provides a chance to learn both in a lecture environment as well in much smaller tutorial groups. I love studying at the University of Sydney and am really looking forward to continuing my commerce degree next year."

Samuel Horner - Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies)

"The best feature of the Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) is the broad and flexible structure of the degree. While study is primarily within the University of Sydney Business School, some study is completed under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science which provides me with a wider outlook on current topics as well as with an intellectual challenge. This cross faculty study also develops critical thinking and sophisticated communication skills, all while broadening my interests and career prospects. With the Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) I am given the flexibility to ensure my degree is as unique as my aspirations."

Victoria Grimshaw - Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Law

"As a prospective student, I was attracted to the University initially due to its capacity to foster my keen commitment to my studies. I believe my degree (Commerce/Law) offers immense employment opportunities not only due to its practicality, but also as a product of the excellent reputation of the University in industry. However in retrospect, I was attracted to Sydney for much more than academia. The vibrancy of its social life, the vast array of extra-curricular opportunities and even the assistance in the transition from high school to tertiary study through mentoring programs were also extremely persuasive factors."

James Sin - Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Law

"A Commerce degree from the University of Sydney really sets the foundations for excellence and achievement in whatever I choose to pursue after graduation. The degree gives me a solid grounding in business so I can understand the big picture - the context of the business world and the economy. Importantly, there are many areas of specialisation that I can choose from, such as accounting, finance and marketing. A Commerce degree from Sydney will equip me with the knowledge, skills and ability to enter the workforce with confidence and stand out from the rest."

David Monti - Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies)

"The University of Sydney has such a diverse and expertly-taught range of degree and subject options. The fact that I am undertaking units of study in the disciplines of Archaeology, Psychology, Marketing and Commercial Law in the one degree is evidence of this. Only at Sydney can I go from handling genuine artefacts from the ancient world one minute to discussing the ramifications of the economic downturn the next!"
