Who does the Global Executive MBA target?
Focusing on cultivating future business leaders, the Global Executive MBA is specifically designed for experienced high-performing managers with approximately ten years relevant experience. It is designed to give participants a strong competitive edge in today's global marketplace. It is structured in a series of two-week modules spread over 18 months, enabling busy executives to complete the degree in tandem with their work commitments. We will gather a small group of like-minded senior executives to ensure participants get the most out of the program.
How is this Executive MBA different from others?
The Global Executive MBA has been created in response to a new business landscape. Utilising live projects and a global setting, the program was designed in collaboration with cutting-edge global businesses. A world-class curriculum delivered by thought leaders and in diverse locations, from Silicon Valley in the US to the Languedoc region in France. Diverse leadership approaches from business, military, political, philosophical, ethical, drama and musical perspectives are explored and stretch cognitive abilities.
What are the tuition fees and associated costs?
The program fees for the program commencing in February 2012 are AU$84,240 which includes ALL tuition and materials during the classes.
Program fees for the cohort commencing February 2012 may be subject to change.
The payment schedule for the February 2012 intake is:
- 1st instalment, AU$30,000 due by 31 January 2013
- 2nd instalment, AU$30,000 due by 31 July 2013
- 3rd instalment, fees TBC due by 31 January 2014
In addition:
- Participants are billed at cost for accommodation, meals and group ground transportation approximately four weeks prior to the commencement of each module
- Participants are required to organise and pay for their return airfare to the host city of each module.
For budgeting purposes the current estimate for accommodation, meal and group ground transport costs is approximately AU$20,000 over the duration of the 18 months of the degree. Please note this figure is indicative and subject to change due to variables such as fluctuating currency exchange rates and supplier/service provider changes.
A AU$2,000 non-refundable deposit is required to be paid upon acceptance of the offer. This $2,000 is subtracted from the accommodation, meal and group ground transportation costs billed approximately four weeks prior to the first module EMBA6002: Leadership commencing 10 February 2013.
What are my options for paying the tuition fees and associated costs?
If offered a place in the Global Executive MBA there are several payment options available to participants.
Option 1 – Corporate Sponsorship
If an employer has chosen to sponsor a participant the organisation will be required to cover the cost of:
- Tuition fees to The University of Sydney in three instalments as detailed above under Fee Structure
- Accommodation, meal, group ground transportation costs in the host city of each module (billed approximately four weeks prior to the commencement of each module)
- Return airfares for the participant to the host city of each module.
The Global Executive MBA Program Director will work together with a sponsoring organisation to identify promising executives who best suit this accelerated leadership program.
Option 2 – Self-funding
Participants funding their own studies will be required to cover the cost of:
- Tuition fees to The University of Sydney in three instalments as detailed above under Fee Structure
- Accommodation, meal and group ground transportation costs in the host city of each module (billed approximately four weeks prior to the commencement of each module)
- Return airfares for the participant to the host city of each module.
Participants who pay using this option may be able to claim tuition fees and associated costs as a self-education tax deduction. Participants should check with their accountant/financial adviser and consult the Australian Taxation Office website to determine eligibility.
Option 3 – FEE-HELP
For eligible participants wishing to take advantage of FEE-HELP, the Australian Federal Government will cover [please see www.goingtouni.gov.au for more information and apply your personal circumstances]:
- Tuition fees to The University of Sydney are due in three instalments – specific details of which are listed above under Fee Structure section above. Notice there may be a gap between how much participants are able to borrow under FEE-HELP and the total tuition fees participants are required to pay.
FEE-HELP will NOT cover the following costs:
- Accommodation, meal and group ground transportation costs in the host city of each module (billed approximately four weeks prior to the commencement of each module)
- Return airfares for the participant to the host city of each module
Are there scholarships or prizes available for the Global Executive MBA?
Yes. The Excellence in Leadership Scholarship is intended to promote academic excellence at the executive leadership level of education.
The scholarship is valued at half of the total degree tuition fees, or three of the six units of study the recipient is required to undertake and is open to local and international students who successfully gain entry to the Global Executive MBA.
The Alumni Scholarship for Excellence in Not-For-Profit Leadership is intended to promote academic excellence at the executive leadership level of education within the Not For Profit sector and the CPA Australia Global Executive MBA Scholarship is intended to promote academic excellence at the executive leadership level of education in the CPA membership.

Do I need to have undertaken the GMAT to apply for or be admitted to the Global Executive MBA?
No. A GMAT result is not required.
Why do I need to complete a Statement of Motivation as part of my application?
We ask you to write a one page statement outlining what you hope to achieve professionally and personally by completing the Global Executive MBA. This will assist the selection process by helping the Admissions Committee match an applicant's aspirations with the nature of the course.
Can I receive credit towards the Global Executive MBA for previous studies I have completed?
No. The Global Executive MBA offers a unique set of experiences and learnings that cannot be replicated elsewhere – the entire experience is designed to be carried out as a whole.
What is the minimum grade average I must have achieved in my undergraduate or equivalent studies to qualify for the Global Executive MBA?
You must have achieved a minimum Credit (65%) grade average in your undergraduate or equivalent degree.
How long after I submit my application will I get a response?
You will receive a response within two weeks of submitting your online application.
What do I need to complete an online application?
You will need to upload your curriculum vitae, a one page statement of motivation and an electronic copy (scanned is acceptable) of your official transcript of results for your undergraduate or equivalent degree.
What are the selection requirements?
For admission to the Global Executive MBA, an applicant must have:
- Completed a bachelor's degree, graduate diploma/certificate or equivalent at an institution approved by the Business School and at a standard acceptable to the Business School (minimum Credit (65%) grade average); and
- Approximately 10 years relevant professional experience
- An English proficiency of IELTS 7.0 or equivalent (international students).
As part of the selection process, applicants must:
- Complete the online application form
- Submit a 1-page (maximum) Statement of Motivation, curriculum vitae and copy of their official academic transcript.
- Attend an interview (either in person or remotely).
Who is on the interview panel?
As part of the admissions process all candidates are interviewed by an Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee is made up of the:
- Executive MBA Program Director
- Executive MBA Program Coordinator
- Executive MBA Module Leader (one of ten)
How soon after the selection interview will I be notified of the outcome?
You will be notified of the outcome of your selection interview usually in one-two weeks.
How do I participate in the selection interview if I live interstate or overseas?
If you are short-listed for interview and you live interstate or overseas you may be asked to participate in the selection interview via video conferencing or telephone.
If I am not currently employed or I am self employed how will I complete EMBA6001 Executive MBA Report?
If you are not currently employed and are admitted to the Global Executive MBA you will work together with the Executive MBA Program Director to develop a suitable project.
What are the dates of each module in the Global Executive MBA?
