Bio

Thomas To is a PhD candidate in Finance at the University of Sydney, Business School. Thomas's main research interests lie in the areas of corporate finance and corporate governance. He holds a Masters degree in Applied Finance from Macquarie University and a Honours degree in Commerce from the University of Technology, Sydney.


Thesis working title

Three essays in empirical corporate finance

The thesis consists of three essays on corporate finance. This first essay examines the effect of financial analysts on the quality of corporate investment decisions. The second essay investigates the impact of promotion-based tournament incentives on corporate acquisition performance. The third essay studies the effect of the threat of shareholder litigation on corporate acquisition decisions.
