First place, INFS2010, S1, 2010

The highlight of my BIS studies has been the opportunity to do an eight week work placement program at one of the world's leading professional service firms. It was a great chance to gain industry experience in my field of choice and to network with some amazing people. It has also given me the opportunity to apply the skills I have learnt at uni to the real world and to see the practical application of those skills.

Studying BIS has greatly enhanced my future career prospects due to the great variety of skills it has given me such as analysis and creative thinking to develop innovative solutions to an organisations problems.

Studying BIS courses will be of great help for the future as it is highly relevant and can open the door to many potential career opportunities.

"My initial motivation for studying BIS was to satisfy the requirements of my course. I realised after a few lectures that having an understanding of information systems in a business context is highly relevant and important for my future career.

I would certainly recommend BIS courses to other students. If I had completed INFS1000 in my first year (I completed it in my third), I would have seriously considered a major in BIS. It is an interesting, practical and useful unit of study that is well-taught at the University of Sydney."

"I was motivated to study BIS due to its extreme relevance to current industry development, whereby the use of information systems is integral to the operation of almost all businesses.

The highlight of my BIS studies would be the opportunity to learn the process of development of a basic information system and applying that knowledge in real life practise, together with other team members from different backgrounds.

I would recommend other students undertake BIS units of study since it is crucial to grasp the knowledge of an information system in business and its function in connecting the dots."
