Three Sista's is the brain child of two deeply committed social entrepreneurs, Stuart Wright and Janet Guthrie, who identified the need for increased social responsibility in the provision of safe, accessible and culturally sensitive accommodation and associated services.
With close to 1500 people sleeping rough or homeless in Cairns on any given night, Three Sista's is addressing the critical need of displacement and homelessness by providing an alternate model of crisis accommodation within the Cairns region. They provide an empathic place that connects tenants with a service pathway to re-engage with the community, to transition into long-term sustainable housing and to build a better life.
Between them Janet and Stuart have extensive experience in housing, community development services, indigenous affairs and indigenous health. Having worked across three levels of government, they have built strong links to community, business and social networks in Queensland.
RARE students are being offered the opportunity to explore new initiatives for Three Sista's future growth including; a Cairns Homelessness Centre, and a learning and training service established as a RTO (registered training organisation).
