Rabbit Meat Harvesting
The Paupiyala Tjarutja Aboriginal Corporation, in the Tjuntjuntjara Community, identified an opportunity for a rabbit meat harvesting enterprise. It will supply the local community with a healthy food source, with the potential to expand regionally once capacity has developed. Local sourcing and production overcomes logistical costs, and provides the community-owned enterprise with a revenue stream. It is an all inclusive activity that encourages collective participation of people on country, helping to strengthen both community relationships and knowledge, and economic activity and awareness.
RARE students will support the staged development of culturally appropriate business management systems and structures. Project focus areas include developing risk assessment and evaluation models, supply chain analysis, scoping opportunities to increase revenue, governance, production efficiencies, marketing strategies, and many more. It is also an opportunity to engage with Australia's indigenous people, and experience how remote Australia can get!
