The Discipline of International Business honours coordinator is Professor Sid Gray.
Honours study in International Business has a dual purpose. On the one hand, it is directed towards the development of the analytical and conceptual skills required to conduct independent research in the field. Those pursuing Honours from this angle may be interested in postgraduate study and an academic career, or in working as a research analyst in either the private or the public sector. On the other hand, International Business Honours also builds on and further develops the practical management skills acquired in the major program. From this perspective, the Final Honours Year adds value to an undergraduate degree and can lead to a range of opportunities in private firms, NGOs, international agencies, and government departments.
There are no pre-requisite units of study for International Business Honours; however, students are required to complete a major in the discipline.
The closing date for applications for Final Honours Year is the last working day in November.

The minimum entry requirement is a completed pass degree with a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70 per cent across all senior units of study taken, and a minimum of 75 per cent in units completed in International Business.
Candidates must enrol in IBUS4101, IBUS4102, IBUS4103, and IBUS4104 to complete the Final Honours Year. Each unit of study is worth 12 credit points.
The units prepare students for thesis planning and execution.
Double or Joint Honours in International Business is encouraged, particularly if an applicant's areas of interests are between disciplines. Students wishing to complete a double honours degree or a thesis as part of a joint major, must also contact all relevant disciplines prior to submitting an application.
Double honours involves completing all the honours requirements in International Business and one other subject and thus normally takes an additional year. In joint honours the two subjects are more generally closely related and a special program of study is designed for fourth year. This will usually entail doing approximately half the final honours requirements for International Business and half for some other subject.
Supervisors may supply students with a sample template for the marking of theses.
The final grade of honours will be determined on the following University scale:
