Alejandro received his Bachelor degree (Civil Engineering, 2005) and Master degree (Transport Engineering, 2007) from Universidad de Chile. He visited ITLS as a research student in 2007 and worked as a consultant in Santiago in 2008, before enrolling in the doctoral program at ITLS in January 2009. His main research interests are public transport, sustainable transport and externalities. He received the University of Sydney World Scholars Award for international PhD students and the Conicyt-Chile PhD scholarship to support his studies. In 2009 Alejandro won the Michael Beesley Award from the Thredbo 11 conference held in Delft, The Netherlands, for the best workshop paper presented by a person in the early stages of their career (first ten years). Alejandro's provisional PhD title is Optimal Pricing Strategies of Transport Externalities, with Reference to Car Use and Implications for Public Transport Use. Alejandro is being supervised by Professor David Hensher and Dr John Rose.
