Shinya Kurauchi is a senior assistant professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Ehime University, Japan. He completed his Master's degree of Engineering from Nagoya University, and then worked as a research associate at NU. He was awarded a doctoral degree (Doctor of Engineering) in 2006. The title of his doctoral dissertation is 'Development of the discrete choice models considering alternative decision making strategies and transitivity of preference structure', in which various types of decision making protocols such as conjunctive, semi-ordered lexicographic as well as weighted additive (traditional compensatory decision protocol) are explicitly considered utilizing latent class modelling approach. Now, he is interested in behavioural economics and cognitive psychology in order to investigate the effective pricing regimes such as road pricing schemes and public transport tariffs. The purpose of his research visit to ITLS is to work with Professor David Hensher and Professor John Rose on advanced behavioural modelling and efficient survey designs to analyse traveller's responses to alternative pricing regimes.
