Student Learning and Teaching Exchange
The Student Learning and Teaching Exchange meets four times a year and provides an opportunity for students to raise Business School wide concerns and to receive feedback regarding these concerns. Individual issues that do not have program-wide or Business School-wide implications will not be considered by this reference group.
Terms of Reference
The meetings of the Student Learning and Teaching Exchange (SLATE) and key Business School staff will provide a forum for consultation and information-sharing between student representatives and Learning and Teaching in the Business School administrative and academic staff in appropriate leadership roles. Key elements of the consultative process shall include:
- Student representatives providing school-wide feedback on all aspects of learning & teaching, with the School responding as appropriate and in a timely fashion with the objective of further enhancing the quality of the general student experience of learning and teaching.
- Students providing feedback on administration and services, with the School responding by considering ways to improve administration and to enhance services.
- Identification of areas of effective practice in learning and teaching and related systems in the School
- The School advising on specific new policies and other changes in learning and teaching and student administration
- Meetings to be held at least twice per semester.
The membership comprises of students and key members of the Business School administrative and academic staff. Ideally the 20 students members are a mix of genders, international & local students and programs.
As students complete their studies and leave the university vacancies arise and calls for new members are made each year around March.

If you are unable to participate in the SLATE or if your concern is not Business School wide you can also voice your concerns via the Feedback button on the Current Students web page of the Business School website which will take you to the We Listen feedback page. If you enter feedback here you can be assured that you are not identified to your lecturer. This information goes to the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Program Advisers.
Students are also encouraged to direct their questions and concerns regarding their studies directly to the most appropriate contact person.
To identify who is the most appropriate person you need to decide what does your issue relate to?
Is it a Business School-wide administrative matter?
For example: matters of a general nature to do with student administration, e.g. enrolment procedures, administrative advice, intranet information, classrooms, IT facilities, etc).

Is it a Business School-wide academic matter?
For example: matters of general academic policy and practice not specific to a particular program or unit of study, e.g. admission criteria, general teaching practice and quality, general issues relating to learning content, study load, assessment policy, etc.
Address Questions and concerns to the relevant Associate Dean:

Is it a matter specific to a particular unit of study?
These would include matters relating to the administration of a particular unit of study (e.g. class scheduling, teaching practice, lecture content, readings, assessment type, assessment feedback, tutoring practice, etc.).
Address Questions and concerns to the relevant lecturer-in-charge in the first instance.
Is it a matter relating to your particular degree program?
For example: matters relating to the structure and content of your degree program, including core/elective configuration and choice, degree completion requirements, etc.
In due course these questions may be directed to the relevant Program Director. For the time being address these questions and concerns to the relevant Associate Dean:
