4.0 Texts and other resources
Please insert information on any texts and recommended resources (including online resources). Required texts and resources must be available elsewhere (i.e. library, lab).
The right tools make for easy work.
- Consider what the students will need in order to achieve the Unit of Study outcomes.
- Student resources can include printed resources, online discussion boards, podcasts, Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS), question-time in class, in-class group tasks, peer feedback processes, or library research guidance.
- All Units of Study have a Blackboard site. The Business School mandates that the site is used for managing electronic submissions and marks. Besides this Blackboard offers great ways to engage students, distribute materials, and manage group work.
- Consider copyright restrictions on using material in class.
Why
Different people learn differently. To prepare and offer a range of learning resources will support learning opportunities in a diverse student population.
Sometimes change is like a holiday and using a different media re-invigorates interest in the topic and improves learning outcomes.
Examples
- Consider participating in Blackboard training offered by the Business School to make most of the Blackboard facilities.
- When using books, ordering sufficient numbers for the Co-op bookshop in advance will allow students to start learning from the start of the Semester. Consider having some books available through Library special reserve as well.
- When reading materials are collated from different sources, the option is to arrange for a printed reader or place items in the library e-reserve for students to print for themselves or to read on the screen.
