Master of Management Wins Top Award
14 Oct 2009
In its 2009 rankings, the Financial Times rated the CEMS Master's in International Management (MIM) as the number one Management program in the world for the first time. The CEMS MIM is a global degree program jointly taught at 26 of the world's leading business schools, including the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Sydney through its Master of Management degree. The CEMS Masters in International Management provides postgraduate students with a unique blend of top-level education and professional experience, including international internships opportunities.
The University of Sydney is the only Australian business school that is part of the CEMS alliance and only students enrolled in the Faculty's newest degree, the Master of Management, are able to participate in the CEMS MIM program.
Master of Management Program Director, Associate Professor Nick Wailes said it was a well-deserved result for an outstanding program.
"The CEMS MIM program provides an outstanding international management education. We are delighted that we are able to give the best of our Master of Management students the opportunity to participate in the world's top ranked management degree".
François Collin, CEMS Executive Director, who is based in Paris, sees this result as both a resounding endorsement of the CEMS mission since its foundation and also confirmation of the excellence of the organisation today.
"Our alumni continue to evolve in a range of sectors, from Consumer Goods and Consulting, through to Banking, Industry and High Technology. Their contact with multinational companies from the very start of the MIM is instrumental to this as they graduate with the skills and tools required to succeed. They are taking diverse career paths, are actually on better pay conditions than in previous years and have the international profile to be able to change and adapt to change with greater ease than most."
About the Master of Management program
The Master of Management is a 12-month management degree designed to give recent graduates, from both business and non-business backgrounds, leading edge business knowledge and the skills they need to apply this knowledge in a corporate context.
Limited to 50 students per cohort, one of the hallmarks of the degree is a six-week consulting project in which students work with one of the degree's corporate sponsors on a real-life business problem.
Applications for the third cohort close at the end of the October this year. Students enrolled in the Master of Management who are fluent in more than one language will have the opportunity to complete their degree at CEMS partner institutions in Europe, the Americas and Asia, and will have access to unique international internship opportunities with CEMS corporate partners.
