Sydney Uni Live
29 Aug 2009
On Saturday 29 August, The University of Sydney threw open its doors and offered thousands of students the chance to discover more about study opportunities and student life. From courses and career prospects, to clubs and societies, accommodation and student services - this public open day ensured all prospective student questions were answered.
In the Faculty of Economics and Business we held a number of registration only events in addition to the general Faculty mini lecture program. The day started in style with more than 70 people attending a Business Breakfast where invited guests had the opportunity to meet current students and academics from the Faculty as well as hear from one of our respected alumni, Brad Hatch. Brad is a journalist with The Australian Financial Review and staff writer for AFR BOSS magazine and has a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degrees from the University of Sydney. Students intently listened to Brad?s advice about studying in the Faculty of Economics and Business and how his degree provided a wonderful foundation for a range of career options.
In addition to this, Careers for economics and business students were explored through a one hour Q & A session led by Jill Kelton from the Faculty's Careers and Employer Relations Office. The panel consisted of a graduate recruiter from professional services firm, KPMG, a Faculty alumnus currently working with KPMG as well as current students.
