Alumni Relations
16 Nov 2011
An impressive mix of more than 200 people, including Business School Graduates from over four decades attended the final Connect Over Cocktails event for 2011. Mingling in comfort and style at the Ivy in the Sydney CBD, the connective ambience simply built on a solid foundation of collegiality that is the University of Sydney. In the opening speech, host and Acting Dean Professor Tyrone Carlin, confirmed the strategic strength of direction with which the Business School is moving forward and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of alumni, staff and industry contacts to the Business School before introducing guest speaker Dr Chris Caton, Chief Economist for BT Financial Group, whose reputation as a formidable economist and international speaker helped draw in a capacity crowd. Caton's insight and humorous look at the GFC and the global economic challenges at large, kept the audience engaged. His entertaining anecdotes were delivered with a warm, personal touch and his overall message was one of optimism. The University of Sydney Business School looks forward to further engagement with its alumni in 2012. |
